Transforming Lives: A Journey to Ghana
Our mission at ARC is to assist people in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus.
Have you ever felt that nudge in your heart urging you to step out of your comfort zone? Have you wanted to step out of your ordinary routine to see God's bigger plan for the world? One way people choose to more fully devote themselves to following Jesus is to serve on a short-term mission trip.
We have many opportunities for individuals and families to take this next step in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus. One opportunity for this is to engage in our Ghana trips. We take two trips a year to Ghana, one in January and one in August. These trips afford the opportunity for everyone to go and share the story of their walk with Jesus, their skill and talents to help West Africans lead in churches or begin their walk with Jesus. Recently, a short-term team of five people traveled to Ghana to do just that. This journey exemplified the transformative power of the Gospel, and the impact short-term mission trips can have on both those being served and those serving. Below you can hear from them about their experience.
The Mission
Our mission was clear: to help people become fully devoted followers of Jesus and to lend our skills to the planting of hundreds of churches across Ghana. On our last trip, this meant participating with hundreds of people as they decided to take their next step toward Jesus. We encouraged village churches, schools, and medical staff. Four churches were established, with over 300 members in total. Additionally, 24 individuals were baptized, and 80 leaders were trained in "Lead Develop Care"—the primary tool we use with our ARC staff.
Those stats are more than just numbers. These are people whose lives have been dramatically transformed by the power of the Gospel. Our short-term team was able to directly baptize, preach to, and love on the community of people in Ghana who are now filled with hope in Jesus. That impact will be felt for generations, and we are so grateful to be able to have been a small part of it.
Serving in Ghana is a life-changing opportunity that has strengthened our team's faith. There are no words to describe how impactful witnessing someone's life change because of the hope of Jesus is. Communities will be changed long after our team leaves because of local leaders and pastors who said "yes" to rising up and being a catalyst for change in their communities and families. Their passion was ignited and their purpose was given clarity through the "Lead, Develop, Care" training.
A Call to Action
Living on mission is an opportunity you can step into today. Whether you decide to serve in Ghana, choose to serve those in your local community, or serve elsewhere, you can step into the unknown and trust God to use you as he used this team.
You don't need to have a Biblical degree, specialized experience, or years of previous mission work on your resume to join a short-term trip. God can use and transform you just as you are. So, would you consider praying about joining our next short-term mission trip?
