Galatians Discussion Questions

Part 7: Free and Fruity
Pastor Rick Henderson               April 5-6, 2025

The study guide is designed for your individual use throughout the week to get you thinking about the Bible passage and offers ideas for spiritual practices you might consider trying. These discussion questions are designed to help you further process aspects of the passage, as presented in the sermon, with your group.

Week 7 Small Group Discussion – Galatians 5:13-26

    1. Read Galatians 5:13–26.

    1. It is tragic to see people, especially within the church, “bite and devour each other” and destroy each other with their words or behavior (Gal 5:14). Notice that this warning is prefaced by “love your neighbor as yourself.” Process through what it looks like to resolve a conflict when people are seeking to love each other as they want to be loved.

    1. Though we have been freed in Christ from sin, guilt, shame, fear, and religious rule keeping, we still are tempted by them. The only way will shed these things is if we live our lives led by the Spirit rather than our flesh. Describe how you pursue intentionality in living by the Spirit.

    1. We cannot take credit for our fruit – the Spirit produces and grows that in us. How have you seen God grow your love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and/or self-control?

    1. The message ended with Warren Wiersbe’s quote reminding us that “this fruit is meant to be eaten, not to be admired or put on display. People around us are starving for love, joy, peace, and all the other graces of the Sprit…We do not bear fruit for our own consumption; we bear fruit that others might be fed and helped, and that Christ might be glorified.” Share with your group a way that you could demonstrate your “faith expressed through love” using the fruit that He’s developed in you to bless someone else.

    1. What would you like prayer for in the coming week?
