Discussion Questions: Galatians Week 2 – Undivided

Galatians Discussion Questions

Part 2: Undivided
Pastor Rick Henderson               February 22-23, 2025

The study guide is designed for your individual use throughout the week to get you thinking about the Bible passage and offers ideas for spiritual practices you might consider trying. These discussion questions are designed to help you further process aspects of the passage, as presented in the sermon, with your group.

As a refresher, begin by reading Galatians 2 (pg. 11 of the guide).

  1. This chapter of Galatians walks us through a confrontation between Paul and Cephas (Peter). Are you someone who prefers to avoid confrontation or are you typically eager to work through it? Or maybe somewhere in between?
  2. Have you been in a position where you felt like someone else was imposing religious expectations on you? How did you process that?
  3. Verse 10 affirms the priority of caring for the poor. Without letting your conversation fall into a political ditch, discuss Pastor Rick’s question posed in the message: “When changes to government funding make the needs of the poor more urgent and their situations less stable, who should the poor be able to count on? Will they discover that they can depend on followers of Jesus, on us?
  4. Paul confronted Peter over his hypocrisy in slipping back into a religious mindset rather than a gospel mindset. What does it look like to confront a fellow Christian in a way that lets them know you have their best interest, and the interests of those impacted by them, at heart?
  5. Was there anything else about this weekend’s sermon or study guide content that you wanted to discuss?
  6. Look over the list of spiritual practices on pages 14–15 in your study guide. Share with your group which one of these practices you might like to try this week to help you apply the truths we’ve discussed.
  7. How would you like this group to encourage or pray for you over the coming week?
